February Update

Time for the second update of the year! If you'd like to read Jan's update visit this link: https://livingseasonal.blogspot.com/2019/02/january-update.html

In early February I celebrated Imbolg (also known as Imbolc). You can read about my celebration here: https://livingseasonal.blogspot.com/2019/02/imbolg-2019.html

I also did some baking. I made these spiced carrot muffins: https://growingupgabel.com/spiced-carrot-muffins/

They were quite nice. I used ginger and mixed spice in mine because that's what I had in. Think I also used some cinnamon but not nutmeg. Here's a pic:

I like to walk in the park year round (depending on the weather). This time last year it was really cold and we had more snow than usual in Sussex. But this year it's been mild. We had a bit of snow and then that was it.

I'm noticing more signs of spring now. There are daffodils and I've seen some snowdrops. The days are getting longer and lighter. "Look for signs of spring" is one of the activities I suggested in last year's Imbolg Celebration Ideas post. It's a nice thing to do if you're looking forward to spring and seasonal changes.

Here are a couple of photos from this month:

I also started an anxiety course recently, so hopefully that will help me find ways to deal with anxiety. It's through Recovery College who provide free mental health courses. They're based in Sussex/the South East. Visit these sites for more information:

Read: L.M. Montgomery books Mistress Pat and Emily of New Moon (two of my faves), Fireside Gothic by Andrew Taylor, Where the Past Begins by Amy Tan, Breaking Mad (about healing anxiety) by Anna Williamson (currently reading the last two).

Played: Clock Tower 3 and Haunting Ground (PS2 games).

February is the shortest month and it does seems to have gone quickly. I find that with some months they can feel short even if they're longer, or the other way round! There are a few days left of Feb but I decided to do the update this week, since next week I'm planning to write a new spring themed post. If there's anything else I want to add I'll come back and update this. :)

How has your February been? Hope you've had/are having a good one! :)

  1. Spiced carrot muffins sound amazing, I've been craving carrot cake recently! Maybe for Easter, can carrot cake be an Easter thing? haha :D such pretty photos, my first sign of spring this year was the birdsong outside getting later and later, it feels so summery to hear the birds right in to the evening and it being lighter too :D I hope the anxiety course is helpful for you! xx

    1. Hi Elizabeth, I like carrot cake too. Yes, carrot cake for Easter sounds good! :) I like Sainsbury's carrot cake bars and Waitrose's carrot cake cheeecake (don't normally like cheesecake but I really like that one, lol).

I'm glad you liked the photos. Oh yes, I've been noticing birdsong more and later. Thank you. :) Thanks for commenting! <3
