Easter 2018

This year for Easter I baked the frosted white chocolate Easter cake that I made last year, and a few years before that as well. It has white chocolate in the sponge and cream cheese icing. For more on the cake and the recipe visit this post: https://livingseasonal.blogspot.com/2017/04/frosted-white-chocolate-easter-cake.html

Here is a picture of this year's cake:

It was nice. I put Cadbury's Mini Eggs on top like usual. It' s similar to the white chocolate cake I made for Oestara but that had a white chocolate icing and Malteser drinking chocolate in the sponge. I liked that but but I'd say this is my favourite cake. :) I kept it in the fridge, but you can also wrap it in clingfilm and foil and freeze it.

I had another go at egg dyeing (it didn't work out so well when I did it for Oestara!) and it worked eventually. I realised the original recipe I used needs white eggs but I've been using brown. (I'm sure I used brown eggs before though and it worked). However I used another recipe where you boil beetroot in water (to get pink eggs) and then I added white vinegar and it worked! I did this a couple of days after Easter but now I have a better method for next year, lol.  Here's a photo of when it was first done:

It doesn't show up as much in the pic, but it was pink.

And now after being kept in the fridge:

Very pale pink

It still has a brown bit at the bottom! The first recipe I used was this one: http://www.goddesslifestyleplan.com/how-to-naturally-dye-eggs/*

The second one was part of a free email course I'm signed up to about celebrating the sabbats. You can sign up here (look on right of page: http://witchoflupinehollow.com/

Here's a similar recipe: https://www.seriouseats.com/2010/04/how-to-dye-easter-eggs-naturally-without-a-box-onion-skins-beets-cabbage.html

Happy Belated Easter! Hope you had s good one if you celebrated. :) I got a Terry's chocolate orange egg like last year, a Sainbury's one and a few small choc eggs!

Ir's feeling a bit more like spring now. For ideas for celebrating spring check out this post:

  2. Happy Belated Easter to you too. Seems like you've had a nice Easter. My favourite Easter egg is the M&MS Chocolate Egg. The chocolate is too delicious. It's definitely confirmed I'll be gaining more spots on my face by the end of Easter term.😅

    1. Thank you! Hope you had a good one. :) I'm not sure if I've had that egg but I like M&Ms, so I bet I'd like it! I wish that the more healthy food tasted as good as things like chocolate, lol.
