Oestara 2026

I normally post on Sundays or Mondays but I was later with a post on my entertainment blog Star Sparkle Blog, so got behind in general. So today's post is on a Tuesday. :)

The Friday before last (20th March) it was Oestara (more commonly known as Ostara) aka the Spring Equinox. I usally celebrate by baking. The past couple of years I made carrot cake cupcakes.

This year I baked chocolate carrot cupcakes. The recipe is from Mix and Match Mama: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2016/02/chocolate-carrot-cupcakes/

They were nice. Chocolate cake is one of my favourite type of cakes, so it was good have chocolate carrot cakes! They have a cream cheese frosting and I put Cadbury Mini Eggs on top to fit the Oestara theme. Here's a pic:

In the evening I went to the park for sunest. I wasn't sure what the weather would be like but it ended up being a nice sunset. Quite a fiery one! Here are a couple of photos:

So now we're "officially" in spring! The weather has been varied lately, colder and then warmer. Some rainy, dull days but then sunny ones. At the moment it's about 14C (57F) during the day and 8C (47F) at night.

It's Easter this coming weekend (Easter Sunday is 5th March). The chocolate carrot cake cupcakes would also be suitable for that. I'll share a link to more recipes below. :)

The next sabbat will be Beltane on 1st May (some people from sundown on 30th April to 1st May). I'll write a post about my celebrations.

Hope you had a good Oestara/Spring Equinox and Happy Spring! :) (Or hope you had a good Madron/Mabon/Autumn Equinox and Happy Autumn!)

P.S. Last year I included an Easter baking section in my Winter-Spring (2025) Update (scroll down): https://livingseasonal.blogspot.com/2025/04/winter-spring-update-2025-easter-baking.html
